About the Role
You will be working as a part of a team of multi disciplines, at a community residential site, surrounded by beautiful native areas and gardens. You will also have the opportunity to work across different areas to promote reintegration and rehabilitation into the community setting.
We are looking for individuals who can work alongside and empower tangaata whaiora in their rehabilitation to live well in the community. Maaori are significantly represented across all our services, which is why we focus on delivering care and support via a `culturally led, clinically underpinned model of care. Delivering excellent care in a culturally responsive manner, to support the best outcomes for Maaori is fundamental to our mahi.
Key responsibilities:
- Delivering therapeutic interventions, based on evidence informed and/ or cultural approaches.
- Medication support and physical health monitoring.
- Assessment and risk screening including crisis and relapse prevention support.
- Education for individuals and whanau, and community engagement.
- Care coordination and planning.

About the Team or Service
Oranga Rangatira is a specialist service for individuals who live with a long term mental health disorder and often have complex needs. We aim to deliver an intensive, personalised, and Maaori-led response to mental health needs that is clinically underpinned. Structurally, Oranga Rangatira comprises of a 10 bed residential facility (Tirohanga Waiora) which supports rehabilitation and integration into the community setting. The team is made up of both clinical and non clinical roles, together you will support our tangata whaiora on their recovery journey to wellness.

About you
- 3-5 years mental health nursing experience, preferably with a focus on long term rehabilitation.
- Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to engage therapeutically with whaiora is essential to this role.
- Candidates with a good understanding of Te Ao Maaori and the ability to support our Maaori tangata whaiora through a strong Te Ao Maaori lens will be prioritised for interview.
