We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Food Supervisor to join our Nutrition & Food Service Retail Team at Waikato Hospital. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of retail food services, support staff performance, ensure food safety compliance, and help deliver a high-quality food service experience for patients, visitors, and staff.
About the Role
As a Food Supervisor, you will lead by example, working alongside your team to ensure food production, service, and retail operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for coordinating staff, maintaining service standards, managing stock and ordering, and ensuring compliance with food safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and support food service staff.
- Coordinate daily operations and staffing requirements for our three smaller retail outlets.
- Ensure food production and service meet quality and timing expectations.
- Manage food ordering, stock control, and receiving of goods.
- Monitor and verify food safety systems and corrective actions.
- Respond to customer enquiries and resolve issues professionally.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
This position is a Monday to Friday position however, occasional weekend work may be required. You must be available for rostered 8 hour duties between hours of 6 am and 8.30 pm.

About the Team/Service
Nutrition & Food Services is committed to delivering a safe, high-quality and efficient food service that meets the nutritional needs of individuals and supports their overall health and wellbeing.
Each mealtime, our team prepares and serves more than 850 patient meals. In addition to inpatient services, we also operate a Meals on Wheels program for community clients and manage five on-site retail food outlets.
