About the Role
As a Health Care Assistant in the Emergency Department, you will play an important role in supporting the nursing team and helping deliver safe, high quality patient care. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will provide clinical, technical, and administrative support to ensure patients receive timely, compassionate care in a busy and rewarding environment.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will assist with delegated patient care activities, support patient comfort and wellbeing, maintain equipment and supplies, and contribute to the smooth running of the department. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills while making a meaningful difference to patients and their whānau.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Emergency Department team is made up of dedicated nurses, medical staff, allied health professionals, and support staff who work together to provide high quality care to our community. We are committed to delivering safe, patient centred care while fostering a supportive and collaborative team culture.
Based in Hastings, you will join a dynamic service where every team member plays a valued role in ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients and their whānau.

About you
As a Health Care Assistant, you will bring a positive attitude, a genuine commitment to patient care, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 3 Health Assistance, currently enrolled, or willing to commence study within 12 months of employment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and professional practice.
- Adaptable, reliable, and able to work effectively in a fast paced clinical environment.
