About the Role
As an Anaesthetic Technician Educator, you will play a key role in supporting the ongoing development, training, and professional growth of Anaesthetic Technicians, trainees, and students within our Perioperative Service.
This is a unique opportunity to combine your passion for clinical excellence with education and leadership. You will lead and coordinate educational programmes, facilitate clinical learning opportunities, and ensure staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver safe, high quality patient care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will mentor and coach staff, contribute to service improvement initiatives, support trainee development, and help shape the future workforce. Alongside your educator responsibilities, you will maintain clinical practice within the perioperative environment, ensuring education remains relevant, practical, and aligned with current best practice.

Our Perioperative Department provides a wide range of surgical services to the Hawke's Bay community and is committed to delivering safe, high quality care across the patient journey. You will join a collaborative team of Anaesthetic Technicians, nurses, anaesthetists, and allied health professionals who are passionate about clinical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.

About you
As an experienced Anaesthetic Technician, you will bring:
- Current registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
- A recognised Anaesthetic Technician qualification and relevant postgraduate education.
- Qualified Workplace Assessor status or the ability to obtain this.
- Experience supporting, teaching, mentoring, or assessing Anaesthetic Technicians, trainees, or students.
- Strong clinical knowledge within the perioperative environment and a commitment to evidence based practice.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and delivering culturally responsive care.
- A passion for developing others and fostering a positive learning culture.
