At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waitematā, we are committed to recognising the value our people bring to our organisation. We are looking for people that share our values by providing the best care for everyone. We understand how important it is to know that what you do counts, and to feel a sense of achievement and satisfaction in your work.
What we are looking for
We are seeking Registered Nurses with at least two years' experience in Mental Health to join our Acute Team within North Adult Community Mental Health Services.
This is a dynamic and varied role within a community-based Acute Team, providing timely assessment, intervention and treatment for people experiencing acute mental health difficulties and periods of significant distress. You will work alongside whaiora, whānau and other health providers to deliver responsive, recovery-focused care aimed at supporting people through times of crisis and reducing the need for inpatient admission where appropriate.
The role offers opportunities to work across different functions of the Acute Team, including consultation and liaison with primary care providers, management of referrals into specialist mental health services, and supporting effective pathways of care for people requiring mental health assessment and treatment.
Strong communication and engagement skills, sound clinical judgement, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are essential. We are looking for clinicians who are compassionate, adaptable, and committed to achieving positive outcomes for whaiora and their whānau. The successful candidate will be confident in undertaking comprehensive mental health and risk assessments and formulating appropriate management plans.
Knowledge of the role and function of a Duly Authorised Officer (DAO) would be advantageous; however, training can be provided.
