About the Role
As Nurse Educator Support First Year of Practice (SFYP), you will play a pivotal role in supporting graduate nurses as they transition from study into professional nursing practice. Based within the Nursing Directorate, you will design, coordinate and deliver education programmes that promote safe, evidence-based care while fostering confidence, professional growth and clinical excellence.
Working collaboratively with nurse leaders, educators and multidisciplinary teams across Te Tai Tokerau, you will provide mentorship, coaching and professional support to graduate nurses throughout their Supported First Year of Practice journey. This is a rewarding opportunity to influence the next generation of nurses while contributing to workforce development, quality improvement initiatives and equitable health outcomes for our communities.

The Nursing Directorate leads initiatives that strengthen nursing practice, professional development and workforce capability across Te Tai Tokerau. As part of a collaborative team of nurse educators and nursing leaders, you will work across clinical services to support graduate nurses and contribute to a culture of continuous learning, innovation and excellence in patient care.

About you
As an experienced registered nurse and educator, you will be passionate about developing others, advancing nursing practice and supporting equitable health outcomes for Māori and all communities across Te Tai Tokerau.
- Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
- Postgraduate qualification in nursing or health-related field, with a commitment to ongoing postgraduate study
- Experience in clinical teaching, mentoring, coaching and supporting professional development
- Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to achieving equitable health outcomes for Māori
- Advanced clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across teams
