About the Role

The primary purpose of this position is to provide specialist psychiatric services for young

people under the care of Tū Māia. This will include comprehensive assessments

formally ordered through youth court legislation and the ongoing care and treatment of

young people with neurodevelopmental disorders, and severe mental health disorders in the

context of their family/whanau. This may involve a specialist opinion for the purpose of a

court ordered report or assessment and treatment through the sub team Taiohi Tu Taiohi

Ora which primarily provided service to the Oranga Tamariki youth justice residences.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Tū Māia Regional Youth Forensics Service is a specialised service dedicated to providing comprehensive forensic mental health assessments and interventions for young people involved in the justice system. Our mission is to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of young people into their communities, promoting their mental health and overall well-being. We work closely with various stakeholders, including families, schools, and community services, to ensure a holistic approach to each young persons care.

About you

To be a successful candidate for this role, you will meet the below minimum requirements:

Hold a registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand

Experience with Child Services and Neurodevelopment pathways

Experience and interest in community care for clients (child and adolescents) with developmental disorders

Patient centred approach to delivery of care

Good written and oral communication skills

Working at Health New Zealand
