We are looking for a passionate, dedicated and community driven Emergency Medicine Consultant to join our busy Emergency Department. Rotorua sees 38,000 Emergency Department presentations annually, and is supported by a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists and RMOs. We are seeking someone who is driven to deliver a consistently excellent service to meet the needs of the Lakes community.

About the Role
At Rotorua Emergency Department, no two days are the same. We are classified as a tier 2 Emergency Department with high trauma volume due to our rural geography and extreme outdoor activities, such as mountain biking.
As a teaching hospital, you will have the opportunity to mentor, coach and supervise our 4th and 6th year Auckland University medical students.
We are officially certified by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM), and can offer structured teaching with protected time over the course of 24 months to support your career progression. About the Team/Service/ Location
- Our Emergency Department is made up of 34 beds (2 resus bays, 5 acute monitoring cubicles, 17 monitored cubicles, 4 paediatric rooms, 2 procedure rooms, and dedicated Whānau and Palliative Care rooms.
- We have 24/7 access to Radiology, Lab and Blood Bank services.
- We have acute services on site, with transfers to Waikato Hospital for Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic, Vascular and Plastics.
- We are part of the Te Manawa Taki (Midland) Regional Trauma System; a multidisciplinary team of specialist clinical people who are committed to ensuring best practice is applied in trauma care across the region. This is a 24/7 in-house trauma team.

About you
You will have the opportunity to apply your varied and broad generalist knowledge and expertise to diagnose and treat your patients in the Emergency Department, through to discharge or stabilisation, and will transfer patients to the Secondary/Tertiary Hospitals when required.
You will be within 3 months of obtaining your Emergency Medicine qualification and/or hold/be eligible for Specialist Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
