About the Role
As an Advanced Training Medical Registrar at Tauranga Hospital, you will work across a wide range of subspecialties including Acute General Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Renal, Neurology, Oncology, Health in Ageing, Haematology, Palliative Care, and Infectious Diseases.
You will join a department with 36 Medical Registrar positions, including advanced training posts, within a busy secondary care hospital with approximately 350 beds, including:
90 medical beds
39 elderly/rehabilitation beds (including stroke unit)
10-bed ICU
10-bed CCU
28-bed Acute Assessment Unit

About the Team/Service
The Department of Medicine at Tauranga Hospital is staffed by a large team of dedicated consultants across multiple disciplines, fostering a teaching-rich environment with close registrar-supervisor collaboration. The service supports learning through regular education sessions, simulation training, and multidisciplinary teamwork.

About you
As an Advanced Trainee Medical Registrar, you will:
Be enrolled in or eligible for advanced training in internal medicine (RACP)
Hold (or be eligible for) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
Have strong clinical and communication skills
Demonstrate commitment to equitable, patient-centred care
Show awareness of Māori health and equity, in line with Te Tiriti o Waitangi
