About the role
As a Clinical Engineering Technical Assistant, you'll play a vital role in ensuring low-risk medical equipment across the district is safe, reliable, and fit for purpose—supporting frontline healthcare delivery every day. You'll provide preventative and breakdown maintenance, carry out quality assurance and performance testing, and complete acceptance testing for new equipment, ensuring all assets meet regulatory and manufacturer standards.
- Deliver preventative maintenance, repairs, and emergency response support for low-risk medical equipment
- Conduct quality assurance, calibration, and performance testing in line with compliance standards
- Install, commission, and complete acceptance testing for new equipment and associated systems
- Maintain accurate records, audits, and inventory management for all equipment assets
- Provide technical advice and training to clinical staff to ensure safe and effective equipment use
- Support equipment lifecycle management, including maintenance planning, decommissioning, and sustainability practices
- Investigate faults, contribute to incident reviews, and implement solutions to improve reliability
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure consistent service delivery
About You
You're a proactive and technically capable problem-solver with a strong commitment to patient safety and quality standards. With a solid foundation in engineering and a hands-on approach, you're confident working both independently and as part of a wider team in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, bring a solutions-focused mindset, and take pride in delivering reliable outcomes.
- Proven basic engineering aptitude with the ability to safely perform technical tasks
- Registered (or working towards registration) as an Electrical Appliance Serviceperson with EWRB (including Medical/Cardiac Protected Areas endorsement)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety, compliance, and quality standards
- Professional, reliable team player with a positive, can-do attitude
- Self-motivated and outcome-focused, with the ability to take initiative
- Holds a current driver's licence and meets English language requirements (IELTS 6.0 minimum)
