The Opportunity:
Gain valuable real-life experience & insights through the role of a Senior or Core Clinician Occupational Therapist based at Middlemore Hospital, Ward 23 Adult Rehabilitation. As one of a team of Occupational Therapists, you will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of a clinically and culturally diverse client group. You will use your expertise to provide occupationally focused assessments and interventions based on meaningful occupations for adult clients requiring rehabilitation including stroke, other neurological conditions, amputees and general conditions. The role involves working autonomously and as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
Counties Manukau fully supports ongoing education and development of all employees including regular supervision and fortnightly in-services. For the Senior role, there will be opportunity to develop your leadership skills by co-ordinating a small team of Occupational therapists, leading service development and implementing quality improvement projects which will improve the care of your patients. You will be able to develop and enhance your coaching and mentoring skills by developing junior staff and rehabilitation assistants. There will be support from your Section Head and Advanced Clinician who is committed to developing you in this role.
Essential:
- NZ Registered Occupational Therapist with a current practising certificate
- Senior Clinician, minimum 5 years Occupational Therapy experience in a neuro/physical health setting
- Core Clinician, minimum 2 years Occupational Therapy experience in a physical health or community setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience supervising students and junior staff
- Full, clean driver's licence

- Accessable accreditation in wheelchair and seating or working towards accreditation
