About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and committed Intern Pharmacist to join our Hospital Pharmacy team.
In this role, you will work under the supervision of registered pharmacists to deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical services, while developing the competencies required for registration in New Zealand.
You'll gain hands-on experience across a broad scope of pharmacy practice, contributing to safe, effective, and patient-centred medication management within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
What You'll Be Doing
You will be supported to build capability across key areas including:
- Dispensing & Medicines Supply – Accurate, timely dispensing for inpatients and outpatients, ensuring compliance with policies and safe practice
- Clinical Pharmacy Practice – Medication reconciliation, therapeutic monitoring, and contributing to patient care decisions
- Medicines Information – Providing evidence-based advice to patients and healthcare professionals
- Compounding & Repacking – Supporting preparation of pharmaceutical products under supervision
- Patient Care & Education – Counselling patients and supporting health literacy
- Patient Safety – Identifying and mitigating medication-related risks
- Continuous Learning – Completing the EVOLVE pre-registration programme and achieving competency for registration
You'll play an integral role in supporting optimal health outcomes and ensuring the safe and quality use of medicines.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
Essential:
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (NZ or recognised equivalent)
- Acceptance into the EVOLVE Intern/Pre-registration Programme
- Eligibility to practise under Pharmacy Council of NZ requirements
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
You will also:
- Demonstrate a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable health outcomes
- Be motivated, reliable, and eager to learn
- Work well within a team and build strong relationships
- Show initiative, accountability, and professionalism
