The MidCentral District Respiratory Service is seeking a motivated individual with excellent teamwork skills interested in providing a positive experience for service users accessing the service.
Applications will be accepted form experienced Clinical Sleep Physiologists or those holding a Bachelor of Science with a relevant major for a trainee sleep physiologist role.

About the Service
The MidCentral District Respiratory Service provides high-quality respiratory and sleep services to meet the immediate and long-term needs of the population equitably throughout the MidCentral Health region.
The multi-disciplinary team provides services to users who are referred by MidCentral inpatient, outpatient and community services.
About the Role
As a Clinical Physiologist you will be providing diagnostic sleep testing, ongoing patient advice for NIPPV (Non-Invasive Positive pressure Ventilation) and assessment and management of patients on CPAP and Bilevel ventilation, following CPAP titration studies including home trial and follow-up equipment requirements.
As a Sleep Physiologist Trainee, you will gain clinical experience, understanding and practical competency in a range of diagnostic testing and treatments within the sleep service. This will include completing the Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Technology with specialisation in Sleep Medicine (University of Otago) and registration requirements. During the two year training period the Trainee will work under direct supervision of the Senior Sleep Physiologist or Clinical Sleep Physiologist.
About you
Qualified Clinical Physiologist
- Bachelor of Science in Physiology or equivalent.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Technology (PGDipMedTech) with specialisation in Sleep Medicine or equivalent in sleep qualification.
- ANZSSA Certification Exam (ACE) or NZ Sleep Certification Exam (NZSCE) or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification
- Holds current CPRB registration and Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) or be eligible to register and complete any required conditions to gain full APC without conditions.
- ANZSSA membership (Australia and New Zealand Sleep Science Association).
- Demonstrated knowledge of sleep physiologist duties
- Technically capable of performing and analysing sleep studies (level 2, 3, 4 sleep studies and oximetry)
- Adept in CPAP therapy initiation and long-term support for patients.
- Commitment to ongoing personal development, professional development and service improvement.
- Current full New Zealand driver's licence.
It would be an advantage to have experience in analysing and scoring sleep studies.
