About the Role
Reporting to the Kaitiaki Team Leader, you will support an integrated approach consistent with tikanga Māori best practice to meet whānau needs.
- Provide culturally responsive and appropriate care and support to improve health experience, outcomes and reduce health inequities for Māori
- Via a cultural assessment process with Māori patients, you will provide recommendations to multidisciplinary teams that will contribute towards the care, treatment and discharge planning process.
The salary for this position will be based on experience and in line with the PSA Allied, Public Health, Scientific & Technical Collective agreement. Additional benefits include kiwisaver contributions, professional development and wellness support.

About the Service
Provided since 1999, Health Services from Waikato Hospital were born from the aspiration of the Māori community for improved health outcomes, better and more accessible health care, participation and partnership by Māori in health care services being provided.
Kaitiaki services work in conjunction with hospital clinical and operational teams to strengthen their capability and capacity to achieve health equity and wellbeing for Māori receiving hospital care.
Kaitiaki champion and promote Māori Health improvement through their cultural cares to ensure the holistic health needs of whānau are responded to and heard.
These responsibilities are supported by Te Puna O (Māori health) Health NZ, Te Whatu Ora Waikato.
About you
Skills and experience youll need to be considered for the role:
- An understanding of Te Reo me ona Tikanga
- An understanding of the health system
- A relevant tertiary qualification would be preferred NOT LESS THAN LEVEL 4 Hauora Maaori certificate
- Current full drivers license
