Consultant Interventional Cardiologist

About the role
We are excited to be recruiting a permanent, full-time (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) Cardiologist position at Dunedin Hospital. This is a replacement position for a Cardiologist with an interest in PCI and structural heart work such as TAVR, TEER, and LAA closure.
The appointee is expected to:
- conduct face-to-face patient clinics, providing comprehensive assessments and management plans for a range of cardiac conditions
- participate in diagnostic angiography, right heart catheterisation, PCI (including OCT, Shockwave, IVUS), and structural work including TAVR, TEER, and LAA closure
- collaborate with general medicine teams in managing complex cardiac cases, including providing an in-hospital consult service.
This role includes an on-call component for both general cardiology and the 24/7 primary PCI roster for the Otago/Southland region. We have strong links with the Dunedin School of Medicine, the University of Otago, and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Surgeons Integrated Training Program site.
Dunedin Hospital is located in Dunedin, a thriving and vibrant city in Otago, Te Waipounamu, South Island, New Zealand. The city offers excellent shopping, a diverse range of restaurants, and outstanding sports facilities, including support for the Highlanders Super Rugby team. Dunedin is within a few hours' drive of Fiordland National Park, Queenstown, and Wānaka, with several of New Zealand's Great Walks nearby. Dunedin Airport provides flights to Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland, and the Gold Coast.
About you
Appointed specialists will hold FRACP or an equivalent qualification, enabling vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. We welcome applications from overseas candidates and can provide support with relocation and registration requirements.

Salary range
This role falls under the ASMS Collective Agreement and ranges from Step 1 ($185,380) to Step 15 ($267,980 per annum pro-rata).
