About the Role
This position provides advanced, patient‑centred cancer care across the Whanganui region. The role focuses on delivering complex clinical support, leadership, and education to patients, whānau, and the wider multidisciplinary team, ensuring timely, coordinated, and compassionate care for people living with cancer.

You will join a committed and collaborative team working within Cancer Services at Te Whatu Ora – Whanganui. Our service is dedicated to supporting patients through their cancer journey, working closely with regional partners and local clinicians to ensure seamless care.

About You
You will be a Registered Nurse with the capability — or current experience — to practise as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. You bring a strong patient‑centred approach, confidence in navigating the health system, and the ability to advocate effectively for patients and whānau. You will ideally demonstrate:
- A current CNS or RN with a strong interest in cancer care
- Confidence in managing patients with cancer across varying levels of complexity
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Leadership capability and a willingness to guide and support others
- Evidence of contributing to quality improvement initiatives in previous roles
As a Designated Senior Nurse
You will provide expert clinical care, ensuring safe, effective, and culturally responsive support for patients and whānau. Working both independently and collaboratively, you will contribute to service development, clinical leadership, and education across the cancer care pathway.
