About the Role
We are looking for a senior speech language therapist with advanced knowledge and clinical skills to provide leadership and clinical expertise within our service in child health.
Our speech language therapists work within an interdisciplinary team to provide:
- A home based early intervention service for infants and young children with disabilities and complex medical issues in the areas of communication and feeding
- Inpatient based service for the Special Care Baby Unit and the Paediatric Ward in the areas of developmental care and feeding
You will join other speech language therapists working across the north and west community teams, work collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary team, and have close links with other community and early intervention providers.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our small team of SLTs are an integral part of our Community Child Health team. Co-located in North Shore Takapuna you will work collaboratively with the MDT including: Childrens Community Nurses, Paediatricians, Dietitians, Visiting Neurodevelopmental Therapists, Social and Cultural Case Workers.
About you
You need to have leadership skills and strong post graduate experience in a caseload involving most of the following:
- Paediatric dysphagia and infant feeding
- Neonatal feeding
- Pre-linguistic/early language intervention
- Knowledge of Hanen parent programmes and the Makaton language programme
As a senior you need commitment to evidence based practice and promote the translation of clinical research into practice; participate in service development and quality project work; have experience with leading and / or coaching and developing others; as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You will need to have the following:
- New Zealand professional qualification in Speech-Language Therapy, or NZSTA approval of overseas qualification
- New Zealand Speech Therapists Association membership
- A minimum of 5 years clinical experience
- Full New Zealand Driver's licence
