About the Role

Delivering hands-on support and excellence in community-based Allied Health care

As a Community Allied Therapy Assistant, you will provide essential support to therapists in delivering high-quality client care across the community. This role requires a strong understanding of Allied Health equipment, including completing access and home visits, equipment setup, cleaning, unpacking, and maintenance. You will also ensure accurate documentation and demonstrate sound computer skills.

A key part of this position involves visiting clients in their homes to set up equipment and provide education to clients, caregivers, and whānau on its safe and effective use. Effective time management, organisation, and confidence in travelling throughout the New Plymouth region are essential to meet the demands of the role.

You will work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists and other Allied Health professionals, ensuring all client interventions are guided by a qualified therapist. This position upholds the standards, policies, and procedures of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand.

About the Service

Te Whatu Ora Taranaki employs approximately 350 allied health professionals across its services, and were growing our inpatient physical health rehabilitation team by 60%.  You will be joining a friendly team that is diverse in skills and experience, a team that welcomes collaboration, and that values the contribution of each team member.  Our team provides rehabilitation care across acute and non-acute inpatient wards as part of Allied Health, and were happy to support other teams to ensure their success.

About you

You will need to have:

         A current NZ drivers licence

         The ability to work collaboratively with others to provide integrated rehabilitation to clients with a diverse range of challenges.

         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff.

         A strong rehabilitation focus, passion for ongoing learning and development.

         Proactive in learning new skills

         Good time management skills

         Client focus to complete home visits and interactions with clients and Whanau

         Reliable to support for the team and patients.
