About the Role
We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated and experienced SMO to join our team. Hospital in the Home (HitH) is a remote monitoring service providing clinical oversight and support to patients in the community on at least a daily basis, following or during an acute episode of care. HitH is an expanding service which will provide more acute care in the community.
The SMO is essential to the HitH service, providing medical oversight and senior decision making. The addition of a named SMO to the HitH service will result in an increase in confidence in the service and improved safety and oversight of the patients.
To be successful at this role you will deliver excellent clinical services with the support of junior medical staff, management and other health professionals in a collegial and collaborative environment. Your experience and knowledge will also positively assist us as we grow and train our future health workforce.
To be eligible for this role you will be registered (or registerable) with the Medical Council of New Zealand and hold a FRACP (or equivalent).
We offer ongoing support for continuing medical education and our Division has extensive scope for research and clinical audits in General Medicine.
As part of the continuous improvement and innovation of this service, you will be actively involved in driving new and exciting changes in the care pathways
This role can be incorporated into your current job size, or you may choose to have time on HitH alternating with time on (and off) an acute medical ward the possibilities are endless. This role can be shared across a number of clinicians and the HitH SMO will work closely with the Clinical Directors and the Medical leadership team to develop the operational and strategic direction and vision for the service, and will participate in the clinical governance of the service.
