About the Role
Were looking for a qualified (completed Level 5 NZ National Certificate in Pharmacy (Technician)) Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic Pharmacy team in a permanent part-time role. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within our Admission Discharge Transition Unit (ADTU), where your expertise will directly support safe and effective patient transitions.
Reporting to the Pharmacy Technician Team leader, you will be responsible for a wide range of duties including:
- conduct comprehensive patient medication-history taking to support accurate medication reconciliation with ADTU
- manage stock supply and oversee the Pyxis automated medication system within ADTU
- collaborate with a wide range of health professionals to ensure seamless patient care
- contribute to a variety of Pharmacy Technician duties across the Pharmacy department, supporting both ward-based and dispensary operations

About the Team/Service/ Location
Health New Zealand Taranakis Pharmacy Service is a collaborative and supportive department who provide safe and effective medication management across both Taranaki Base and Hawera hospitals. We uphold the highest standards in pharmaceutical supply, medicines safety, and clinical services, whilst constantly looking at ways to improve the service and care we deliver.
Our staff work collaboratively in many multi-disciplinary teams across medical, nursing and allied health directorates with a shared focused on ensuring optimal patient-centred care.
Health New Zealand Taranaki is also fortunate to have its dedicated eMedication management team who work closely alongside our Pharmacy department to lead medication management in the various data and digital platforms across the hospital.

About you
The successful applicant will be a team player, have excellent time management skills, hold a commitment to accuracy and continuous quality improvement, an ability to communicate effectively, and hold high standards of ethical and professional practice.
Ideally you will have experience working within a hospital environment and have an interest in continuing to develop your Pharmacy Technician skill set.
