About the Role
The Platform Manager (Telephony) plays a key leadership role in the strategic and operational management of telephony platforms across the organisation. Responsible for the performance, security, and optimisation of telephony services, this role ensures platforms are reliable, cost-effective, and aligned with organisation standards. This role also sets the technology strategy and roadmap for telephony services, which includes oversight of legacy PBX systems and the transition to modern call management platforms (e.g. Cisco). It involves identifying strategic priorities based on risk, investment constraints, and service resilience, and aligning those with international best practices while meeting clinical and business KPIs. The Platform Manager drives platform-related initiatives, supports integration with other systems, and ensures alignment with the broader digital strategy. Working closely with engineering teams, digital leaders, and key stakeholders, the role ensures service quality, enhances platform capabilities, and delivers continuous improvement to meet evolving business needs. The role also demands strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to build trusted relationships across the sector.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Platform Manager (Telephony) sits within the Network & Communications team, part of the Digital Operations function under the wider Digital Services group. Reporting to the Group Manager Network & Communications, this team is responsible for delivering fast, reliable, and secure communication channels across corporate and healthcare facilities. Their work enables seamless voice and data exchange, supports collaboration, and underpins national standardisation efforts to ensure consistent and equitable digital access across the organisation. The team plays a vital role in maintaining the digital infrastructure that supports efficient, connected healthcare services.
About you
As an experienced platform or digital leader, you will have a strong understanding of risk management, service optimisation, and secure system performance. You will be confident balancing innovation with stability and have a proven ability to manage critical platforms in complex environments. You will also have the following skills and experience to support your success in the role:
- Seasoned ICT / Technology leader with proven experience in technology leadership roles, including overseeing critical systems performance and implementing effective digital strategies and work plans that deliver on organisational objectives.
- Minimum of 10 years of IT experience in a relevant technical field or other leadership roles.
- Minimum 5 years in technical leadership roles and/or responsibilities.
- You will also demonstrate a high level of political awareness and stakeholder management capability, able to engage effectively across a diverse and high-stakes operating environment.
