Lead Clinician - Youth Forensics - Tū Māia

• Seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Psychiatrist, psychologist, psychotherapist, registered nurse, social worker, or occupational therapist. 
• Full-time role - comprised of 0.2fte lead clinician and 0.8fte clinical practice. (Could be part time minimum 0.8fte for the right candidate)
• Central Auckland location

About the Role

We are seeking a Lead Clinician who is a self-motivated and conscientious leader with a strong clinical and consumer focus. You will relish the challenges and enjoy working in a supportive environment, have a positive attitude, flexibility, and a proven ability to form good relationships with staff, consumers, and their families/whanau.

Although experience in a clinical leadership role is desirable, experienced mental health professionals with a desire to extend into a Clinical leadership role will be considered, and if successful will be supported in their development. You will work collaboratively at a senior clinical level with the clinical team leader, clients, colleagues, mental health service providers, and other community agencies to promote service user recovery.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Tū Māia is a dedicated Youth Forensic Team based at Greenlane Clinical Centre that provides services for the Auckland and Waitemata catchment areas. Counties Manukau and Northland have local youth forensic teams of designated clinicians who liaise with Tū Māia for support or specialist expertise.

The Tū Māia team provides in-reach services to the two secure residences in South Auckland: Korowai Manaaki (Youth Justice) and Whakatakapokai (a mixed Youth Justice and Care and Protection residence). The team also provides intervention to some young people in the community through the RYFS intervention component, Taiohi Tū Taiohi Ora (TTTO). In addition to completing Section 336 cultural reports, the team produces a range of Section 38 and Section 333 court-ordered reports. Tū Māia also provides triage assessments and clinical advice within the supra-regional Youth Courts and facilitates admissions for rangatahi requiring care at the national secure youth forensic inpatient unit, Nga Taiohi, in Porirua. The team actively liaises with Youth Coordination Teams, supporting an intersectoral approach that aligns with the national Youth Crime Action Plan and, locally, the Tāmaki Makaurau Rangatahi Action Plan.
