About the Role
Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital is searching for an O&G House Officer to join our cohesive, friendly and supportive team.
The successful candidate could look to commence in April, July or October 2025.
About the Team/Service/ Location
You would join a team of eight House Officers and work closely with eight Registrars. You will also have the full support of eight Specialist Consultants who offer supportive working conditions and are committed to excellent teaching. While enjoying a wide variety of inpatient cases, you will have the chance to experience Women’s Outpatients, work in the Surgical Ward, Operation Theatre, Acute Admissions Unit, Emergency Department and the Early Pregnancy Clinic.
Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital is situated in Hastings on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. It is a large, secondary level, 400-bed accredited public facility providing acute and elective care for a region of over 176,000 people.
We have most major medical and surgical subspecialties on site (except cardiothoracic and neurosurgery), as well as paediatrics and O&G. We are well supported by a strong regional ICU team, serving a diverse patient population.

About you
- Suitable for Resident Medical Officers who will be PGY3 or above
- Applicants must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
