- Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking an experienced and dedicated Rural Emergency Medicine Specialist to join the team at Taupō Hospital.

About the Role
- This is a fantastic opportunity for an Emergency Specialist to work in a rural hospital setting where your broad skillset will be essential.
- You'll be providing 24/7 medical cover to the Taupō community of approximately 41,000 residents, managing a diverse range of acute presentations from initial diagnosis and treatment to discharge, or stabilization and transfer to secondary/tertiary care centers when needed.
- If you have a background working in smaller, less-resourced rural hospitals, you'll appreciate the scope of practice and autonomy this role offers. You wont be without support as Taupō has recently increased the junior doctor cohort to compliment the SMO team alongside a competent nursing and medical student team.

About You
- You are a highly adaptable and experienced Emergency Medicine Specialist who thrives in a rural environment and is comfortable applying a broad generalist knowledge to diagnose and treat patients independently.
To be eligible for this role, you must either:
- Hold (or be within three months of obtaining) your Emergency Medicine qualification; AND
- Hold or be eligible for General Registration/Specialist Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
