About the Role
As a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, you will provide high-quality plastic and reconstructive surgical services to patients across Te Tai Tokerau. Your role will include outpatient clinics, ward rounds, and operating theatre sessions, along with providing timely specialist opinions and ensuring continuity of care for patients under your clinical responsibility.
This role will be based at Whangarei Hospital (including Kensington Hospital), and regional sites across Te Tai Tokerau.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a regional setting, delivering both elective and acute care while working closely with multidisciplinary teams. Youll also play a key role in teaching and mentoring Registrars, House Officers, and other healthcare professionals, contributing to the development of future clinicians while maintaining high standards of care.

You will be part of a collaborative surgical team, working alongside General Surgeons, SMOs, Skin Clinical Nurse Specialists, nursing staff, and allied health professionals committed to delivering high-quality patient outcomes across the region.

About you
To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist (or locum tenens) vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Ideally, you will possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or overseas equivalent qualification.
