Lead One of Health New Zealand's Largest Technology Transformation Programmes
Health New Zealand is seeking an experienced and strategic Programme Manager to lead delivery across the Hybrid Multi-Cloud (HMC) Programme.
The HMC Programme is a significant national technology transformation portfolio that supports infrastructure modernisation, cloud adoption, cyber security improvements, service resilience, operational transition, and enterprise platform investments. The programme comprises multiple concurrent projects and workstreams, with extensive dependencies across Digital Operations, Architecture, Security, Regional Digital teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
This is an opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role in shaping Health New Zealand's future technology landscape while delivering outcomes that directly support healthcare services across Aotearoa.
About the Role
As Programme Manager, you will provide end-to-end leadership and oversight across the HMC programme. You will ensure successful delivery through robust governance, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, financial management, risk management, and benefits realisation.
You will lead programme-level coordination across multiple projects and initiatives, providing visibility, control, and assurance to senior leaders while helping teams successfully navigate complex dependencies and delivery challenges
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee delivery across the HMC programme portfolio.
- Manage programme schedules, inter-project dependencies, risks, issues, assumptions and decisions (RAID).
- Drive programme governance, executive reporting and assurance activities.
- Provide financial oversight, investment planning and benefits realisation management.
- Support effective decision-making through clear reporting and programme insights.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, technology leaders, vendors and delivery teams.
- Ensure consistent programme controls, delivery standards and governance practices.
- Coordinate resources and delivery sequencing across multiple initiatives.
- Champion continuous improvement and delivery excellence across the programme.
What You'll Bring
You will be a programme leader with a track record of delivering large-scale, complex technology transformation programmes.
Ideally, you will have:
- Proven success delivering technology, infrastructure, cloud, or digital transformation portfolios.
- Strong governance, financial management and executive reporting experience.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Experience managing vendors, commercial relationships and cross-functional delivery teams.
- Advanced understanding of programme and portfolio management practices.
- The ability to operate confidently in environments with multiple competing priorities and complex dependencies.
- A collaborative leadership style and a focus on delivering measurable outcomes.
Why Join Us?
This is a unique opportunity to influence a nationally significant programme at a scale few organisations can offer. You'll work alongside highly capable technology and delivery professionals, helping shape the future of infrastructure and cloud services that support healthcare delivery throughout New Zealand.
If you're an experienced Programme Manager passionate about delivering complex transformation programmes and creating meaningful impact through technology, we'd love to hear from you.
