Quality Lead, Radiology - Quality Patient & Safety

About the Role 

As the Quality Lead - Radiology, you will provide national leadership for quality assurance, accreditation, and continuous improvement across Health New Zealand's radiology services. This role is focused on driving a consistent, high-quality approach to patient safety and service excellence, reducing duplication, and identifying opportunities to standardise quality practices across the country. You will lead the development and implementation of the National Radiology Quality Improvement Plan, helping to ensure equitable access to safe, high-quality publicly funded imaging services for all New Zealanders. 

Working closely with clinical leaders, quality teams, regions, districts, and external stakeholders, you will champion innovation, influence change, and support the ongoing improvement of radiology services nationwide. A key focus will be providing oversight of accreditation programmes, strengthening quality expectations for external providers, and fostering a collaborative quality improvement culture that delivers better outcomes for patients, whānau, and communities across Aotearoa. 

About the Service 

The National Clinical Leadership team comprises the National Clinical Chiefs, Pacific Health, National Clinical Networks, Quality and Patient Safety, Safe Staffing Healthy Workplaces and the Resident Doctor Support Services teams.  This role is located in the Clinical Leadership Office, who provide support across the wider team in the areas of government services, executive and board level requirements (including reporting), project and programme management and oversight of the team's wider work programme.

You are an experienced quality and patient safety professional with a proven ability to lead quality improvement initiatives in complex healthcare environments. You bring strong relationship management skills and can work collaboratively with clinical leaders, operational teams, and external stakeholders to influence positive change and deliver sustainable improvements. Passionate about quality, equity, and patient outcomes, you thrive in a role where you can provide strategic leadership while supporting practical service improvement.  

You will bring: 

• Demonstrated experience in quality improvement, patient safety, clinical governance, or healthcare accreditation. 
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems, continuous improvement methodologies, and healthcare quality standards. 
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse groups. 
• Experience leading projects, programmes, or initiatives within a complex health sector environment. 
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. 
• The ability to translate strategy into action and drive meaningful, measurable outcomes. 
• A commitment to improving equity, patient experience, and health outcomes for communities across Aotearoa New Zealand. 
• A relevant tertiary qualification in a health, quality, or related discipline, with postgraduate qualifications desirable.
