About the Role
As a Health and Safety Verification and Assurance Business Partner, you will provide senior advisory and operational leadership for health and safety verification and assurance activities across Health New Zealand.
Reporting to the Health and Safety Verification and Assurance Manager, this role plays a critical part in ensuring Health NZ meets its legislative, regulatory, and organisational health and safety obligations. You will plan and deliver verification and assurance activities, analyse system performance, and provide high‑quality insights that support informed decision‑making at regional and national levels.
Working closely with regional and local health and safety teams, you will help drive consistency, continuous improvement, and a strong safety culture across a complex and diverse operating environment. This is a role where your expertise will directly influence how health and safety is governed, monitored, and improved across the organisation.
About You
You are a trusted, credible health and safety professional who thrives in complex environments and brings a strong assurance mindset. You will also bring:
- Extensive experience (up to 10 years) in health and safety delivery, verification and assurance, ideally within healthcare or similarly complex organisations
- Strong working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, ACC Accredited Employer Programme (AEP), and ISO 45001
- Proven experience leading or undertaking verification and assurance activities, including ICAM investigations and performance reporting
- The ability to influence, advise, and build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting insights to senior leaders
- A sound understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori, Pacific Peoples, whaikaha, and all communities we serve
A qualification in Health and Safety (or equivalent demonstrated experience) is required.
