Pay Rules Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a Pay Rules Specialist to join our Rostering & Automation team within Payroll in Auckland. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and effectiveness of payroll systems by maintaining and configuring pay rules that align with legislation and collective agreements.
In this role, you will interpret the Holidays Act and employment collectives into multi technical system configurations, ensuring payroll outputs are accurate and compliant. You will work closely with rostering, payroll, and wider stakeholders to support system implementation, testing and ongoing improvements. This includes providing second-tier support, resolving issues, and ensuring pay rule configurations do not negatively impact existing systems across the region.
About the Team/Service/Location
You'll be part of the Rostering & Automation team within Payroll, working collaboratively with payroll specialists, rostering teams, and national stakeholders. This is a highly collaborative and technical environment focused on delivering efficient, accurate payroll outcomes across the Northern region and beyond.
About You
You are a technically strong payroll professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for accuracy and system integrity. You have the ability to interpret complex rules and translate them into practical system solutions, while working collaboratively across teams.
You will bring:
- Strong payroll experience with knowledge of the Holidays Act 2003 and pay rule interpretation and configuration from collective agreements
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability
- Experience working with rostering/payroll systems (e.g. UKG, Kronos or similar)
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent testing and process improvement skills
Experience working in complex organisations and supporting system implementation or optimisation will be highly advantageous.
