About the Role
In this role of Senior Analyst, you will be able to contribute to transforming the future of health by working with the extraction, collation and distribution of data, insights, and information using both local and increasingly available national data sets across Health New Zealand.
You will be responsible for using best practice methodologies to provide consistent and high-quality analytics, advice, producing accurate reports, supporting responses to OIAs, parliamentary questions, and media enquiries, and contributing to performance monitoring and evaluation frameworks. Your work will help inform strategic planning and ensure accountability; with a special focus on supporting the smaller Districts within the region.
About the Team
The Regional Health Analytics team provides trusted analytics, intelligence, and reporting services that support operational and strategic priorities across Health NZ. Working closely with Hospital and Specialist Services, Commissioning, Public Health, Finance, Data and Digital, and government agencies, the team delivers high-quality insights that help shape the future of healthcare delivery in New Zealand.
About you
With extensive background in data and analytics, you will have been responsible for delivering high quality, evidence-based, forward-focused insights using best practice approaches and methods. You will be committed to developing your analytical skills, and working within a broader team to produce, present and interpret data sets that support decision-makers.
As a Senior Analyst within the Health Analytics Team, you will have:
- Knowledge of appropriate visualisation and analytical tools and data techniques to elicit high-quality insights, create and validate dashboards (e.g. requirements gathering, data cleansing, development of insights and process mapping)
- An excellent understanding of the fundamentals of analytics and how the discipline is used to create business and customer value
- Strong communication skills with the confidence and ability to present and defend decisions in a manner appropriate to the needs of the audience.
- Experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgment to develop options and provide advice
- Knowledge of the Health Sector and government
- A relevant graduate qualification, or equivalent professional experience
- Advanced analytical capabilities
