About the Role
The Security Analyst plays a key role within Health New Zealand's National Security Operations Centre (NSOC), responsible for identifying, assessing, and responding to cyber security alerts generated by the organisation's enterprise SOC/SIEM solution. This role is critical in ensuring that potential threats are managed and mitigated before they escalate into significant incidents. Security Analysts are integral to safeguarding Health New Zealand's systems, patient data, and digital assets through proactive threat detection, incident response, and continuous improvement of cyber defences. The position also contributes to compliance activities, incident investigations, and the sharing of security insights to enhance the organisation's overall resilience and reputation for trustworthiness.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Security Analyst is part of the Cyber Security team, reporting to the NSOC Manager within Health New Zealand's wider Digital Services function.The Cyber Security function within Health NZ is a national capability that ensures the protection of critical health systems, data, and services. Cyber security have established a robust security function that operates at scale across all of Health New Zealand, providing essential protection against cyber threats. A stable, consistent approach to cybersecurity is essential to safeguarding patient safety, maintaining public trust, and ensuring the continuity of vital healthcare operations.
About you
You are a cyber security professional with strong analytical and technical skills, capable of assessing and interpreting complex security data to identify threats and vulnerabilities. You have experience working with on-premise, SaaS, and cloud environments and can communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Additionally, the following skills and experience will contribute to your success in this role.
- Minimum 2 years experience in IT and/or security support services, e.g. Service Desk, IT support, cyber solution support.
- Obtained or working towards: Microsoft SC-100 and AZ-500 certification.
- Experience in either technical and/or operational support areas covering a broad range of security technologies, such as SIEM, firewalls, networking, system administration and scripting.
- Proven experience and success managing IT support tickets.
