Programme Coordinator
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.
We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations — from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.
Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.
About the Role
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Programme Coordinator to support the successful delivery of health infrastructure projects across the Central Region.
As a Programme Coordinator, working within the Infrastructure and Investment Group (IIG), you'll provide essential coordination and administrative support to project and programme managers, helping to keep multiple initiatives running smoothly and on track.
Your day-to-day work will involve managing project documentation, coordinating meetings and communications, tracking progress against milestones, and supporting resource planning and vendor engagement. You'll help ensure that project plans, schedules, budgets, and risks are monitored effectively, and that all documentation is consistent, accessible, and aligned with organisational standards.
Your contribution will be vital to enabling the delivery of high-quality, equitable health services that reflect the needs and aspirations of our communities.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The IIG team are focused on delivering high impact infrastructure investments that support the transformation of New Zealand's health system.
Giving support, oversight and assurance across projects and programmes, the team understand that safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment are essential for a well-functioning health system that improves the health of all New Zealanders.
About you
You're someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. With a solid foundation in administration and coordination, you're confident managing multiple priorities and supporting diverse teams. You bring a sharp eye for detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Your ability to build strong relationships and communicate clearly makes you a trusted support across projects.
And most importantly, you care. You're not just here to deliver buildings - you're here to help shape a health system that delivers better outcomes for communities. You actively contribute to a positive team environment and consistently embody the values of Health NZ in your work. You understand that how you lead is just as important as what you deliver and you take pride in fostering a collaborative, inclusive and purpose-driven workplace.
You will bring:
- A relevant Level 3 qualification and at least 5 years' experience in senior administration or client/customer support roles
- Proven experience supporting multiple stakeholders and managing complex schedules and diaries
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
