About the Role 

We are seeking a Product Manager to provide national leadership, driving both strategy and operations across key digital product portfolios. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of transforming healthcare in Aotearoa - boosting efficiency, enhancing services, and delivering better health outcomes for our communities.

In particular, you will lead the digital product strategy and delivery for Commissioning and Primary Care. Commissioning at Health NZ is about partnering with communities, whānau, and providers to design systems of care, agree on health and wellbeing plans, execute investment decisions, and monitor outcomes. You'll play a key role in supporting decision-making, equity, and the delivery of innovative digital solutions that improve health outcomes across Aotearoa.

You'll collaborate with capability leads, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions at scale, while leading large national teams and setting priorities for product owners and team leads. Balancing strategic vision with hands-on service management, you'll ensure our applications not only address today's business needs but also evolve through continuous improvement and innovation.

About the Team/Service/ Location 

Our Digital Applications & Products function is part of Digital Services and is at the heart of keeping Health NZ's applications & products connected, secure, and running smoothly. We focus on making applications simpler, more reliable, and better aligned to the needs of our people and patients. With dedicated teams structured around the applications and products they support, we deliver stability, faster improvements, and real value to clinicians, operational leaders, and end users nationwide. By working closely with our Digital Delivery function, we're ensuring digital services aren't just fit-for-purpose but truly enable better healthcare across Aotearoa.

About you 

You are an experienced product leader who thrives on complexity and scale. With a track record of delivering digital solutions and managing large programmes, you'll bring both strategic vision and the ability to lead high-performing teams. You're comfortable influencing stakeholders at every level and confident in driving innovation that delivers measurable outcomes.

• 10–12 years' experience in product management or ownership, ideally within healthcare or related sectors.
• A strong understanding of Commissioning and Primary Care, with a proven ability to deliver digital solutions that address the needs of primary care providers, communities, and communities.
• A collaborative mindset, with experience working in partnership with communities, providers, and stakeholders to co-design and deliver health solutions.
• Commitment to equity, local voice, and continuous improvement in health outcomes.
• A track record of virtually leading large, cross-functional teams and managing complex portfolios, budgets, and programmes of work.
• Expertise in Agile ways of working, strategic planning, resource management, and stakeholder engagement
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with clinical, business, and technical leaders.
• A commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and delivering measurable outcomes for end users.
• Relevant degree (Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field), with MBA or industry certifications (e.g., CPM, CSPO) preferred
