About the Role
The Principal Advisor Digital Investment provides senior-level strategic advice and leadership to guide the oversight, planning, and performance of the Digital Services investment portfolio. This role plays a key part in ensuring that digital initiatives are aligned with business priorities and delivered within financial constraints, while also supporting long-term value and sustainability. Working closely with senior leaders, finance teams, government agencies, and Ministerial offices, the role helps drive informed decision-making, supports investment approvals, and strengthens investor confidence through robust performance monitoring and proactive portfolio management.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Principal Advisor Digital Investment role sits within the Digital Investment team, part of the wider Digital Health Strategy & Design function- a collaborative, forward-thinking group focused on stakeholder engagement and strategic investment. The team works closely with Regional Digital Directors, Clinical Informatics Directors, and other key partners to develop digital service roadmaps and adaptable solution designs. By leveraging specialist expertise and strong partnerships, the team ensures investment decisions deliver outcomes that are affordable, sustainable, and equitable across Health New Zealand.
About you
As a seasoned investment or financial advisor with experience working in large organisations either in health or government environments, you will bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills to this role. You will posses a deep understanding of financial metrics, risk assessment techniques, and be proficient in the use of financial modelling tools. You will also have the following skills and experience to support your success in the role:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in investment analysis, financial modeling, or a related field within a technology or financial services organization.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing complex investment projects or initiatives.
- Experience in evaluating and advising on technology investments, including venture capital, private equity, and mergers and acquisitions.
