
Principal Analyst, Health Workforce Information Programme, Health Equity - Planning, Funding and Outcomes

- Fixed-term, full time role based at any Health NZ location (ending 31st Jan 2026)
- Lead the development and operation of Health NZ's Health Workforce Information Programme
- Reporting on workforce data for key pieces of work

About the Role
As the Principal Analyst, you will be an expert in the content and design of the Health Workforce Information Programme (HWIP) data and supports Health New Zealand's workforce strategies with analysis and reporting. This will include lead and implement the HWIP roadmap, reporting on workforce data, including for regular and performance reporting, for ministerial briefs, and responses to Official Information Act requests and Parliamentary Questions.
You will be required to establish and maintain excellent working relationships across the motu, including with district and national teams in People Services, with Data Services, and with senior leadership teams.
About the Team & Service
The core HWIP team in Planning, Finding and Outcomes and works with colleagues in Data Services to manage data; with People Services colleagues in districts who manage and use the source payroll teams; and with other colleagues who rely on HWIP data to inform national strategies and reporting.
About you
As a Principal Analyst you will have experience leading the collection of data and inputting it into information databases, as well as working with key stakeholders to manage and improve the national workforce database, ensuring integrity accuracy and confidentiality of information.
You will have:
- Advanced skills in data management (SQL and Snowflake) and quality control
- Relevant experience with Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Qlik and R) and processes
- High level of experience in managing governance-level relationships, accountability and performance monitoring
