
Project Manager, Lung Cancer Screening Team- Planning, Funding and Outcomes

The Health Gain Development team is looking for an innovative and equity-focused Project Manager that can help lead progress for a lung cancer screening research programme, working in the lower North Island to build evidence for health interventions that can save lives. This role is the perfect opportunity for someone who's experienced and excited to work in kaupapa Māori environments where we're serving the communities of Aotearoa.
This is project management with heart, working collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams of health professionals who are passionate about their work, developing effective and feasible solutions for some of the biggest drivers of health inequity in New Zealand.
About the Role
As the Project Manager, you will manage projects within one of our key programmes, Lung Cancer Screening within our Health Gain Development Team as part of the Māori Health Pipeline, ensuring projects are delivered within time, budget and to the agreed quality standards.
This role is based in Manawatu with work that extends across the country, involving active engagement with other business units across Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Health Gain Development team within Planning, Funding and Outcomes undertakes robust implementation science research on key interventions to address the Life Expectancy gap between Māori, Pacific, and other ethnicities in New Zealand, as well as other key prioritised interventions. We are a forward-thinking organisation dedicated to advancing health equity, with a particular focus on Māori, Pacific, and other underserved communities
About you
You will be an experienced Project Manager who is comfortable with hands-on leadership and management where you will be working closely with experts and a range of stakeholders across the project lifecycle. You will develop and manage complex programmes/projects involving oversight, project support, research support, budget setting and management, procurement advice, contracts setting, workforce modelling and training pathway development, clinical pathway development, and business case development.
You will have:
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant area or comparable experience working as a Project Manager
- The ability to scope and establish work programmes working across other directorates and organisations
- Experience in delivering benefits including improved outcomes for our consumers, communities and at an organisational level
- The ability to express yourself well in both written and spoken formats, with the ability to craft reports and speak in meetings.
- Capability in tracking finances.
