About the Role
As a Clinical Cardiac Physiologist, you will play a key role in delivering Cardiac diagnostic and interventional support services, while contributing to the ongoing development of cardiology services, including community-based care across the MidCentral region.
You will work across a broad and varied cardiac service, including diagnostic, invasive, device, and outreach settings, within a multidisciplinary regional model. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to both high-quality patient care and service improvement initiatives.
About You
You are a skilled Clinical Cardiac Physiologist with strong clinical judgement, a patient-centred approach, and the ability to work confidently in a complex, fast-paced regional healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities & Clinical Experience
Non-invasive cardiac diagnostics
- Performing a wide range of cardiac investigations including but not limited to ECG, exercise tolerance testing, Holter, Event and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, including fitting, analysis, and reporting
- Exercise tolerance testing
Invasive and interventional support
- Supporting cardiac catheter laboratory procedures, including PCI (on-call support)
Cardiac devices (CIED)
- CIED follow-up clinic work, including remote monitoring. Assistance with implantation procedures (highly desirable / advantageous) and on call support.
Service delivery and professional contribution
- Ensuring all equipment is maintained and operating to optimal standards
• Training, supervising, and supporting students and junior staff
• Participating in outreach services supporting community-based care
• Participating in on-call rosters
• Supporting quality assurance, audit processes, and service improvement initiatives
• Working effectively within a multidisciplinary team and regional service model
You bring:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong rapport with patients, whānau, and colleagues
• Strong clinical judgement, attention to detail, and excellent time management and organisational skills
• A commitment to cultural safety, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and delivering equitable health outcomes
• Ability to adapt to a busy and varied clinical workload, including participation in an on-call roster
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement, service development, and professional growth
• Confidence working within complex clinical environments and contributing to safe, effective service delivery
Essential Requirements
- Current Annual Practising Certificate
• Membership of SCT
• BSc Physiology (or equivalent)
• Postgraduate Diploma in Cardiac Technology (or equivalent)
• Current full driver's licence
