About the Role
Reporting to the GM, Health and Safety, this role provides essential administrative and coordination support to the Regional Health and Safety team. You'll help enable the effective delivery of health and safety programmes and initiatives across the region, ensuring operational consistency, timely communication, and accurate reporting aligned with Health New Zealand's strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities include coordinating meetings, workshops, and events; maintaining documentation and databases; supporting communications; and assisting with reports and performance tracking. You'll also support district-level teams, working collaboratively with Health and Safety Delivery and Occupational Health teams to ensure alignment between regional and district functions.
About the Team/Service/ Location
There are 4 roles available, 1 in each of the 4 regions: Northern, Te Manawa Taki, Central and Te Waipounamu.
The Health and Safety team plays a vital role in ensuring consistent, high-quality service across all district sites, shifts, and professional groups. Working remotely with a designated regional focus, team members collaborate to deliver effective and efficient health and safety support tailored to the unique needs of each area. This is a dynamic, purpose-driven team who are committed to maintaining safe environments and supporting frontline services across the district.
About you
This Coordinator role requires at least three years' experience in coordination, administration, or operational support roles within large, complex environments. You're confident managing competing priorities, supporting cross-functional teams, and maintaining clear communication and documentation practices. Your strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively make you a reliable and adaptable team member.
You'll have a genuine interest in health and safety and a basic understanding of relevant legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015. You're proficient in Microsoft Office tools and known for your initiative, professionalism, and ability to navigate change. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, a continuous improvement ability and ability to deal with ambiguity are also essential for this role.
