Group Manager, Planning & Improvement - PFO

About the Role
We're looking for a Group Manager to lead regional health planning and improvement across the system. You'll oversee a team responsible for developing regional health plans, designing integrated models of care, and leading quality improvement across the funded sector.
This role supports system-wide change by turning strategy into practical, coordinated plans that improve access, equity, and service performance. You'll work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure planning and improvement activities are aligned, evidence-based, and responsive to population needs.
About the Team
This role sits within the Planning, Funding & Outcomes team, which commissions services across the Central Region – including Midcentral, Whanganui, Capital & Coast/Hutt Valley, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa. The team works closely with Hospital & Specialist Services to shift care closer to communities and deliver new models of care.
About you
You're experienced in health system planning and improvement, with a track record of leading complex programmes across large organisations. You're confident working with diverse stakeholders and translating strategy into clear, actionable plans that drive better outcomes.
You will have:
- A relevant tertiary or professional qualification
- Extensive senior leadership experience in health system planning and improvement
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and deliver system-level outcomes
- Strong relationship-building skills across sectors, including with Māori and Pacific communities
- Experience in service design, performance management, and navigating regulated environments
