About the Role
As a Health and Safety Business Partner, you'll play a key role in supporting safe, healthy workplaces across your district. Reporting to the District Health and Safety Delivery Manager, you'll provide senior-level advice and hands-on leadership to help teams meet Health NZ standards and industry best practice.
You'll work closely with operational managers, occupational health teams, and other safety professionals to embed a strong safety culture, drive national and local initiatives, and support continuous improvement. You'll also coach and mentor junior health and safety practitioners, helping build capability and confidence across the district.

The Health and Safety team plays a vital role in ensuring consistent, high-quality service across all district sites, shifts, and professional groups. The Health and Safety team works within HealthNZ sites. Team members collaborate to deliver effective and efficient health and safety support tailored to the unique needs of each area. This is a dynamic, purpose-driven team who are committed to maintaining safe environments and supporting frontline services across the district.
About you
You're a seasoned health and safety professional with up to 10 years of experience, ideally in healthcare or a similarly complex environment. You hold a relevant qualification in Health and Safety (or equivalent experience), and you've worked with the ACC Accredited Employer Programme (AEP), the Health and Safety at Work Act, and ISO45001 standards. You're confident navigating risk, coaching others, and influencing change—bringing a calm, collaborative approach to building a strong safety culture.
You also understand the significance of Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and you're committed to equity and inclusive practices. You're comfortable working in diverse settings and bring cultural awareness, adaptability, and strong communication skills to everything you do.
