Are You Ready to Lead Advanced Nursing Care in Haematological?
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) –Haematology to join our dynamic team at Te Whatu Ora – MidCentral. This is unique opportunity to work at the forefront of haematology care, supporting patients, primarily with non-malignant haematological conditions, such as haemophilia, haemochromatosis, ITP, autoimmune haemolysis, aplastic anaemia and thrombosis within the Regional Cancer Treatment Service (RCTS).
About the Role
As a CNS–Haematology, you will:
- Provide advanced clinical care and leadership across the haematology pathway.
- Co-ordinate care for patients with non-malignant hematological conditions affecting haemostasis and thrombosis.
- Co-ordinate care and monitor blood results for patients with non-malignant hematological conditions such as ITP, aplastic anaemia, and autoimmune haemolysis.
- Monitor INR results for patients on warfarin.
- Undertake a nurse-led clinic for review of patients with conditions affecting haemostasis and thrombosis such as haemophilia.
- Undertake a nurse-lead, phone follow for patients with haemochromatosis undergoing regular venesections.
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary meetings and regional cancer service planning.
- Prescribe within your scope as a Registered Nurse Prescriber.
- Support patients undergoing outpatient chemotherapy for haematological malignancies.
- Co-ordinate care for patients undergoing allogenic stem cell transplantation at Wellington Hospital

What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Registered Nurse with current APC (NZNC)
- Minimum 3-4 years' experience as a Registered Nurse
- Postgraduate qualification (or working towards)
- RN prescribing endorsement (or working towards)
- Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
Desirable:
- Minimum 3-4 years' experience in oncology or haematology nursing
- Senior Nurse PDRP portfolio
- Experience in nurse-led clinics and advanced care coordination
